We, at Absolute Care, are dedicated to properly training our staff. We are committed to making certain that each new staff member is not only trained on company policies and procedures, but we also require them to maintain certification in medication administration, MUI Training, CPR and First Aid. We also require our staff to go through at least eight hours of consumer specific training (training time varies per consumer) before ever working a shift. All of the required paid training is offered through Absolute Care.
REQUIRED TRAINING:
- Absolute Care Orientation
A five hour class dedicated to the explanation and demonstration of Absolute Care’s policies and procedures, rights of the individuals with DD and expectations of all Absolute Care employees. - Major Unusual Incident (MUI) Training
A two hour class that teaches the difference between an Unusual Incident and a Major Unusual Incident and what to do in each case. This class trains staff on how to recognize,handle and report Major Unusual Incidents. - Medication Administration Training
A two to three day class that discusses types of medications and the different ways to properly administer and document them. Certification is valid for one year. Staff is required to complete a med pass demonstration and can not pass medications without first taking this training. - CPR and First Aid Certification
This is an eight hour class that demonstrates and tests the proper technique of Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation as well as proper First Aid techniques and what to do in case of emergencies. Employees need to pass both the demonstration test and written test. - HIPAA Training
A one hour training class which teaches employees how to comply with privacy laws, includes a 30 minute training video. HIPAA stands for the federal law entitled the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. As professionals in the DD field, we are legally responsible to protect the health information of our consumers. - OSHA Training
A one hour training class which demonstrates safety around blood borne pathogens and how to prevent exposure to infectious materials. Includes training video and a written test. OSHA is the Occupations Safety and Health Act, which assures safe and healthful working conditions for working men and woman in the United States. - Consumer Specific Shadow Training
Prior to working with a consumer each employee must go through at least 8 hours of on-site training. During this time the House Manager will be there to train and review the required documemtation, ISP(Individual Service Plan), medications, and any other necessary information.
