In order to be considered for a position with Absolute Care, you must meet the following requirements:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have a High School Diploma or a GED
- Have a valid Driver’s License with fewer than 6 points (Driver’s Abstract checked at least one time per year)
- Proof of current, valid Auto Insurance
- Have a clean records check (BCII, Abuser Registry, Nurses Registry)
The Direct Care Staff are vital to the success of the consumer. They are responsible for providing direct care to the individual by ensuring that services are provided within the ISP and aiding in the independence of the individual. Other responsibilities are as follows:
Ensure the health and safety of the individual, provide adequate nutrition, assist in good personal hygiene, administer medications, provide transportation, positively reinforce good decision making, assist in recreation, and any other activity that will enhance independent daily living skills. The Direct Care Staff must maintain documentation related to the services provided and implementation of
the ISP and are responsible for advocating for the client and communicating with all appropriate parties such as Service Coordinators, House Managers, Program Coordinators, guardians, and family members.
- Ensure that the safety and health of the consumer are maintained through the administration of medications and the continuous monitoring of the consumer and his or her environment
- Communicate and work effectively with consumer’s family or guardian, advocates, Case Manager, peers, staff and the community
- Be timely and clear in all oral and written communications of both routine and unusual matters
- Provide and/or coordinate transportation to medical and social appointments
- Encourage learning and enhance daily living skills
- Provide input regarding consumer needs and accomplishments to the team
- Maintain consumer records and other documentation according to established procedures
Qualifications:
- Current CPR/First Aid Certificate (training may be taken with Absolute Care)
- Ability to work with individuals with disabilities and exercise care and commitment
- Ability to operate in a team environment with effective oral and written communication
- Ability to follow detailed plans accurately including, but not limited to, administering medication
- Ability to apply sound decision making within prescribed limits

Home Managers report directly to the Program Coordinator. This position provides direct care to consumers with increased responsibilities and provides support to the program coordinator
- Document all medical information per the direction of the RN
- Fill prescriptions in a timely manner
- Monitor Medication Administration Record and assure that medications are being given and recorded correctly
- Properly dispose of out of date or discontinued medications
- Assist with the tracking and counting of meds categorized as controlled substances
- Train all staff on medications, their purpose, side effects and inform staff when changes occur
- Supervise and review all documentation
- Ensure documentation is available and current
- Assist with the site specific training of new employees
- Create monthly house schedules
- Supervise grocery list and menu planning; ensure consumer has adequate food and supplies
- Organize daily recreation
- Maintain a liaison role with the Program Coordinator regarding service delivery as prescribed within the ISP and communicate all other consumer and staff needs
- Establish a consistent date for house meetings
- Follow on-call rotation
- Return pages and company assigned cell phone calls within 15 minutes
Qualifications:
- Three years experience with MR/DD or related field preferred
- Ability to work with individuals with disabilities and exercise care and commitment
- Ability to operate in a team environment with effective oral and written communication
- Ability to follow detailed plans accurately including, but not limited to, administering medication
- Ability to apply sound decision making within prescribed limits
